Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira is set to give Mikel Arteta a major boost by returning to the squad for next week’s Champions League last-16 first leg clash against Porto.

The playmaker has been out since November after undergoing groin injury.

The 23-year-old has missed a busy period of action, in what has proven to be a frustrating second season at the club.

Arsenal put six past West Ham on Sunday, with Arteta’s side looking like they are finding their groove at just the right time.

The Gunners’ Champions League campaign resumes next week, with a trip to Porto to face the Portuguese giants.

And Vieira has given Arteta a major boost by returning to training, and the midfielder hopes to be fit to face Porto.

Emile Smith Rowe and Thomas Partey are sidelined, while Gabriel Jesus has also struggled with injuries.

Arsenal are one of the favourites for this year’s tournament, behind the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The Gunners have never won the competition, with their best finish coming as runners-up in 2006.
