Mikel Artete impressed with Arsenal new signing–medical take place in next 24hours

Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip that we think you guys may have missed –

Ian Wright reckons Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is the kind of player Arsenal need this winter.

ARSENAL have spent some crazy money over the last couple of transfer windows and brought players to the club that they hoped would get the side competing for the big titles.

They are sitting second in the Premier League ad looking like a side that has the ability to finally take that title off Manchester City – but there is a feeling that they still need a new striker.

That has led to reports in the media that ARSENAL could try and make a move for Osimhen in the January window, a man that they wanted to sign in the summer window and a striker that is easily regarded as one of the best in the game.

Now, with the January window just a few days away from opening, Wright has opened up and claimed that Osimhen is the calibre of striker that Mikel Arteta needs to bring into the club.

He said: “The calibre of player Arsenal need right now i somebody who hits the ground running, a top end striker, like the [Victor] Osimhens of this world… that level of striker.

“If Arsenal want to do it now they’re going to need that level of goalscorer who will slot in straight away.

“That’s what they probably need now. I don’t think any Arsenal fan will look at the game and not see that we need a killer in front of goal.”

CAN ARSENAL AFFORD OSIMHEN?

Arsenal are not afraid to splash the cash – they have proven that in recent windows – But Osimhen will cost over £100 million and his wages will be one of the highest in the Premier League.

ARSENAL can afford him – but not this January – they will be able too at the end of the season.

ARSENAL REALLY WANT TONEY –

It has been claimed that Arsenal are the biggest admirers of Brentford Striker Ivan Toney this transfer window.

The Gunners ended 2023 in poor fashion, as their inability to score goals meant that they are no longer top of the Premier League and could be five points behind Liverpool by the end of New Years day.

That has led to all sorts of speculation in the media that Ivan Toney is the man that Mikel Arteta, and most of the ARSENAL fans, are very keen to to see arrive over the next few weeks.

The big powerhouse banged in 20 goals for Brentford last season and is easily regarded as one of the best forwards in the Premier League, despite the fact he has been out of action for a few months due to his off field antics.

And if you believe the words of talkSPORT’s Alex Crook – Arsenal will find it very difficult to sign Toney this transfer window, he said: ‘Arsenal are the biggest admirers of Toney and, while the Emirates Stadium looks his most likely destination, a deal in January is looking increasingly difficult for the Gunners to pull off.

‘After investing heavily in the summer, Arsenal would have to sell before they could even entertain the idea of paying Brentford’s asking price of at least £80million.

‘Rejecting Crystal Palace’s advances for Eddie Nketiah is a big indicator that they are not planning to bring in a big-money striker at this juncture.

‘Strengthening the midfield appears to be Mikel Arteta’s main priority, so Toney may have to wait until the summer.’

If Arsenal want to push on and try to win this Premier League title, then the need to sign a striker like Ivan Toney, he would be the perfect signing for the club and a man that would score some serious goals.

HENRY IMPRESSED WITH SOLANKE

Thierry Henry has hailed Arsenal transfer target Dominic Solanke amid his impressive performances this season.

Mikel Arteta has seen his side struggle at times this season, as Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus are not players that can score 20-30 goals a season, something that is needed at the Emirates.

Solanke started his professional career at Chelsea after spending a decade in the academy at Stamford Bridge. He was a prolific goalscorer at youth level but was rarely given the chance for the first team.

After an unsuccessful spell at Liverpool, he has found a home at Bournemouth and is finally proving he can score goals in the Premier League. He is enjoying his best campaign in front of goal in the top flight, with 12 strikes in 18 appearances.

And following ARSENAL’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham on Thursday night, in which Henry called out struggling forward Gabriel Jesus, the
