Arsenal make late £60m offer to sign Thomas Partey transfer replacement
Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has urged Mikel Arteta to sign Everton's Amadou Onana in the January transfer window to replace Thomas Partey.
Partey hasn't played a Premier League game for the Gunners since October and was ruled out of the African Cup of Nations with Ghana due to his continued problems. The defensive midfielder's history with injuries has meant he has spent large portions of his spell in north London injured.
The 30-year-old is currently in Dubai for warm weather training with the rest of his teammates. However, it is currently unclear when the former Atletico Madrid man will be available for selection.
Arsenal have registered an interest in Onana this month, football.london understands. The 22-year-old is seen as a possible January recruit and is viewed as the ideal replacement for Partey long-term.
A figure of around £50million is set to be demanded by Everton. Onana was linked with a big-money move to Manchester United and Chelsea in the last 12 months and the Tofees would want a substantial fee to let him go this month.
Parlour, who made over 450 appearances for Arsenal, has insisted his former team should make the most of Everton's financial problems to bring Onana to the capital this month.

Speaking to BettingSites.co.uk, he said: “I think Thomas Partey is the big question because it looks like he’s going to be on his way. You need to replace him, which is difficult. When he’s in the team, he’s a decent player in that central midfield area.
“I think Arsenal are looking for the future there. Maybe Partey moves on this window. We don’t know. Partey has been linked with Saudi Arabia and places like that. You always have to look for a replacement. Squad depth is so important now because of the games you play, Champions League – you want to be competing in that every single season.
“Everybody’s available and I know Everton probably need a bit of money as well to come in. That’s where Arsenal might be a little bit cheeky and say to Everton, ‘we can give you this for Onana, take it or leave it’, see what Everton say.”
